Music Review

When it comes to music, I have a wide variety of genres that I enjoy listening to. If I hear a catchy song on the radio I’ll like it until it gets overplayed way too much. However, there is one album that I could (and have) listened to literally thousands of times since it came out in 2003, and that album is Fallen by Evanescence.
Evanescence has been my favorite band since they came out way back when I was in third grade. They have a sound that is so different from any other band I’ve heard. Every song on this album has a different sound and a unique melody. The lead singer, Amy Lee, has a hauntingly beautiful voice that captivates the listener. Songs like “Going Under” and “Bring Me to Life”, two of the most popular singles from the album, introduced the band’s hard rock sound. The third single, “My Immortal”, a piano ballad, introduced a softer, sadder sound. The other songs on the CD also demonstrate Amy Lee’s wide vocal range and piano melodies, along with unique songs that evoke many different moods. The slow songs are beautiful and the harder songs are very powerful.
The reason why this band was so successful was because people had never heard anything like them before. Amy Lee’s voice sounds different than any other female-fronted rock band and her style really makes her stand out from the rest. This band is amazing to me and I would recommend them to anyone. You don’t have to be a rock fan to like their music. The variety of songs they have offer something to everyone.
